Factoids

According to Jo Robinson of www.eatwild.com, “100% grass-fed animals cannot acquire BSE (Mad Cow Disease) ... and products from grass-fed animals may also lower your risk of becoming sickened by campylobacter or E. coli bacteria.”

True Grit Farm

Amissville, VA

Broiler Chickens, Egg-Laying Hens, Turkeys, Sheep, Goats, Pigs and Horses are all raised according to strict standards of natural inputs and humane care.

True Grit Farm is located in Rappahannock County, VA in the hills of the village of Amissville.  This beautiful setting allows this small farm to raise an impressive array of farm products.  After being dissatisfied with what was commercially available, founder Chrystal Mehl took matters into her own hands and began farming to feed herself and her familiy with standards set that believes in, not those set by a large industrial operation.

All of the animals are free to roam outside across the pasture space, and share spaces where it's appropriate.  The combined effects of the animals living together lead to a richer soil and healthier landscape, which in turn is better for the animals and also naturally reduces unwanted pests.
